MetaTrader 4 Rollover / Swap (Precious Metals)

The MetaTrader 4 rollover rates are displayed in percentage points. Rollover takes place at 5:00PM New York time.

Symbols Long Short
GLD* -6.00 5.00
SLV* -1.30 1.00

Calculate Precious Metals Rollover

In order to calculate the daily rollover, you need to know the pip value per each instrument pair based on 1 unit size. i.e. value per tick based on 1 unit/ounce GLD is $1.

Example

According to the swap rates above, the rollover rate to sell 1 unit/ounce GLD is 5.00% daily. This is the amount you will receive.

Rollover = 5.00 x $1(value per 1 unit/ounce of GLD) x 1(unit/ounce) x 1(day) = $5.00

The rollover rate to buy 1 unit/ounce GLD is -6.00% daily. This is the amount you will pay.

Rollover = -6.00 x $1(value per 1 unit/ounce of GLD) x 1(unit/ounce) x 1(day) = $-6.00

Formula for swaps:
Rollover = Swap Rate x Value per Tick (based on 1 unit/ounce) x number of units/ounces x number of days
